Reaction: Wyden-Gregg proposal offers middle-class tax cuts, is a "light of hope"

People are talking about the new Wyden-Gregg tax reform proposal, calling it a "light of hope" for tax fairness. The proposal offers middle-class tax cuts for working families, will make American businesses more competitive, and closes corporate loopholes that encourage companies to invest overseas instead of in the U.S.

The Portland Business Journal points out that the reforms will "target businesses and middle-class families."

The Oregonian called the proposal "ambitious" in light of what Wyden calls a "broken" tax system.

The Washington Post's Ezra Klein puts the case for long-overdue reform very simply: "It's about time."

And Oregon progressive activist Steve Novick lavishes high praise on the Wyden plan, calling it a "win-win" for how it protects job growth and eliminates special interest tax breaks.

“By simplifying the tax code and scaling back tax breaks for special interests, we can give everyone an opportunity to get ahead,” Senator Wyden said. “Businesses of all sizes will be in a better position to compete and grow jobs. Working families will keep more of their hard earned dollars and everyone will spend a lot less time filling out tax forms.”

And MSNBC's Dylan Ratigan called Wyden-Gregg a "light of hope" for reform, for working families, and against the special interests in Washington D.C. To watch Senators Wyden and Gregg discussing their proposal on MNSBC, click below.
