HuffPo: Wyden stands up for unemployment and health benefits for out-of-work Americans

Today Sen. Ron Wyden took a strong stand against Sen. Jim Bunning (R-KY) and his attack on out-of-work Americans who need unemployment benefits to get by.

After Sen. Bunning refused to budge on allowing an extension of unemployment benefits and health insurance for laid off American workers, Sen. Wyden took the floor and said enough's enough. With Oregon's unemployment rate being amongst the highest the nation, these benefits are crucial for out-of-work Oregonians.

"Denying [the unemployed] legislation that helps them pay for the basic necessities of life is fundamentally wrong," Sen. Wyden said to the Huffington Post blog. "For people that are getting hammered in this economy, trying literally to figure out from their kitchen table and their living rooms how they're going to get by, this legislation is a lifeline."
