Ron Wyden: Different. Like Oregon.

Senator Ron Wyden Fights for Good Jobs for Oregon's Veterans

Posted in Jobs.

With many of Oregon's men and women in uniform coming home after a tour of duty in Iraq or Afghanistan, Ron Wyden if working to provide them with a "soft landing" as transition back into civilian life. Wyden is fighting to ensure our veterans have access to medical benefits, counseling services, good job opportunities and the chance to continue their education.

"Everything else flows from the ability to get a good job and be able to support your family," Senator Wyden said.

At meetings in Tigard and Salem this week, Senator Wyden heard from veterans, their families, and representatives of Oregon's armed services. Wyden's "soft landing" proposal is critical given that upwards of half of returning veterans face unemployment.

"We will not let guard members and reservists fall out of this system," Senator Wyden said. "That's what will come out of this meeting."
