Ron Wyden: Different. Like Oregon.

Oregon's papers agree: Ron Wyden for U.S. Senate

With his record of bipartisanship and delivering results for our state, Oregon's papers agree; Ron Wyden should be the Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate.

Bend's The Bulletin heaps high praise on Senator Wyden's work for Oregon east of the Cascades. Citing the Senator's work on the Eastside Forest Plan and on job creation in rural Oregon the Bulletin says that "during his tenure in the Senate, Wyden has done what many statewide officeholders merely promise to do: He’s sought to represent all of Oregon." Moreover, the Bulletin applauds his "independence" and ability to reach across the aisle, as with Judd Gregg (R-NH) on the Bipartisan Tax Fairness and Simplification Act of 2010.

The Oregonian makes note of Senator Wyden's significant accomplishments over the years. From his job-creating Build America Bonds and the potential of the Eastside Forest Plan to his important victory in winning timber payments for Oregon's hard-hit rural counties, the Portland paper calls Wyden an "overwhelming favorite."

And the Eugene Register Guard agrees. The call Senator Wyden the "most formidable incumbent" because his "accomplishments are significant." They also make note of Wyden's Build America Bonds and his work on health insurance reform and tax reform. But they make a special mention of his work on county payments. Without Wyden's "leading role" in maintaining the payments, the Register-Guard rightly points out that there would have been "devastating cuts to sheriff’s offices, libraries, rural schools and other services." Wyden preserved these vital services, creating or saving tens of thousands of jobs.

With the May primary rapidly approaching, Ron Wyden is poised to continue his effective service for Oregon. His record of creating jobs and innovative, bipartisan leadership have Oregon's papers in agreement: nominate Ron Wyden once more.
