Ron Wyden: Different. Like Oregon.

Senator Wyden delivering energy independence and jobs to Eastern Oregon

Posted in Environment, Jobs, Bipartisanship.

Delivering on his pledge to fight for all of Oregon, Senator Ron Wyden has paved the way for the largest wind energy farm in the world to be constructed in Eastern Oregon's Gilliam and Morrow counties. The project will put Oregon at the forefront of the clean energy movement and create roughly 700 jobs in hard-hit rural Oregon.

"As I have said throughout this effort, blocking this project would have had a chilling-effect not just on Shepherd’s Flat but on private investment in new energy projects across the country," said Senator Wyden. "The Shepherds Flat Wind Farm will move forward."

After construction on the project was delaying in March over Department of Defense concerns, Senator Wyden stood up for Eastern Oregon jobs and energy independence. In a bipartisan effort involving Senator Jeff Merkley and Congressman Greg Walden, Wyden's work will create jobs and help our state become a world leader in wind energy.
