In the aftermath of the Gulf Coast oil rig explosion, Senator Wyden had tough words for BP's executives today before the Senate's Energy Committee. He sharply criticized their handling of the situation and questioned the lack of security safeguards.
“This sure fits, in my view, a pattern of serious safety and environmental problems at BP,” said Senator Wyden. "The culture is that this company has had one accident after another.‘’
Publications across the world are noticing Senator Wyden's tough stand against BP. The New York Times made note of Senator Wyden's words, as do The Hill and The Los Angeles Times. And England's The Guardian heaped praise on Senator Wyden, noting that "[he] is a bit of hero to many Democrats, and you can see why at this hearing."
