Hey, did you know it's time to vote?

Friends,

Today is Oregon's Primary Election, and I hope you’re planning to take part - I did.

This isn’t an endorsement. What I’m asking is easy to do - it only takes a few minutes of your time - vote. And make sure your ballot is received by 8pm tonight - postmarks don’t count. The location of your ballot dropbox is available online.

Voting is fundamental to how our Democracy works, a right that ensures your voice is heard. And it can’t be taken for granted.

Because unfortunately, the way we run elections in America is under attack. Special interest driven lawsuits and laws are making it harder for people – particularly minorities – to take part in the process. At the same time, hundreds of millions of dollars are flooding into campaigns from shadowy groups with undisclosed donors, all in an attempt to elect candidates who will do the bidding of the special interests.

But we’re fighting back. I’m a strong supporter of efforts to increase voter turnout and give more eligible voters the opportunity to have their voices heard. It’s why I believe efforts like vote-by-mail should be put in place to reduce voter fraud and increase public engagement in the process.

I’m also working to bring accountability and transparency to campaign finance by forcing the big-money Super PACs to disclose their donors to the public.

Our voting process is a sacred trust, and we should be doing everything we can to engage more citizens in choosing their elected officials. Turning away people who don’t agree with us or swaying elections with piles of corporate cash is an affront to who we are as Americans, and you can bet I’ll keep up the fight.

Thanks for standing with me. And don’t forget to vote!
