Sign the petition: Ban torture forever!

The recent CIA torture report made one thing clear: When CIA operatives and contractors torture terrorist suspects, it doesn’t make us safer. What’s more, it’s wrong. But it could happen again.

President Obama banned the use of torture by executive order, but a future President could undo that measure in a blink. I’m working with my colleagues on a law that closes the door on torture forever. Let’s build a movement: Sign the petition at MoveOn.org right now.

We already have a federal law that bars the U.S. military from engaging in torture, and it works. But the law doesn’t include intelligence agencies, meaning the CIA isn’t covered.

If we’re going to keep this from ever happening again, we need a law in place that makes it clear: We don’t torture. Sign the petition and let’s stop this once and for all!

The CIA's activities described in the report were horrific, and the agency’s actions don’t represent who we are as a nation or as a people.

So let’s do better. Add your name and demand that this never happens again.
