The straightforward argument for hemp
Here’s a conundrum for you: Right now, it’s perfectly legal to purchase products, like rope, made from hemp.
But guess what: Under federal law, it’s illegal to grow the hemp to make those products, even though it doesn’t have any of the psychoactive properties of its cousin, the marijuana plant.
We’re fighting to change the law. Add your name and help us get it done.
The United States consumes more products made from hemp than any other country in the world. But, the ban on farming hemp means that overseas farmers reap the benefits, not farmers in Oregon. It’s time to change that.
I’ve introduced legislation, the Industrial Hemp Farming Act, to eliminate the barriers that hold back hemp farmers today.
This is just good common sense. Congress needs to make it happen.
