Beating back the Patriot Act Overreach
Friends,
There’s big news today for defenders of personal privacy and the Fourth Amendment. Here’s the latest from the Washington, DC news source “Politico”:
“A federal appeals court has ruled that the National Security Agency program to collect information on billions of telephone calls made or received by Americans is illegal.”
We’ve known it all along, but that’s no small thing. It’s a sign that our continued fight against the NSA’s warrantless surveillance program is finally making progress, and some powerful voices are joining our side.
The Patriot Act expires at the end of this month, and now is our best chance to demand the changes that will finally protect our right to privacy. We aren’t done yet, but we’re getting there.
Keep fighting!
Ron
