We gained one more week to fight for this

The U.S. Senate was poised on Friday to extend the Patriot Act without any of the privacy protections we demanded, but we held the line.

It was close. We pushed into the dead of night to prevent an across-the-board extension of the Patriot Act, and the other side backed down.

That’s no small thing.

We gained one more week to demand an end to the NSA’s illegal mass surveillance program, and we’re making ourselves heard. We’ve gotten this far and this close because so many Americans have spoken out and spoken loudly.

Winning this fight is going to be tough, no question about it. But we can do this if we stand together!
