Sign the Petition: safe, legal, and accessible for all
Across the country, states with far-right governors and legislatures are relentlessly attacking the rights of women to access safe, legal abortion services.
These Republican-led states are testing the limits of Roe v. Wade with onerous laws designed to shut down abortion clinics. In these states, internet searches about how to perform a self-abortion have spiked in recent years. No woman should ever be forced into that position.
A longstanding federal restriction against using federal funds to pay for abortion services – known as the Hyde Amendment – makes matters much worse. It stands in the way of low-income women who depend on Medicaid as well as service-members and veterans from accessing safe, legal abortion.
Making it hard to get an abortion doesn’t make abortion go away. It makes it less safe.
