What is BOLI and who is Val Hoyle?

Here's the top line: I'm asking you to please mail in your vote for Val Hoyle for Commissioner of the Bureau of Labor and Industries (BOLI) today AND make sure all your friends and neighbors do the same thing.

Now, you're probably asking yourself what you should know about this race before you bring it up around the water cooler at work. So here's what you need to know:

1.What does the BOLI Commissioner do?

The Commissioner oversees enforcement of Oregon’s labor and civil rights laws, including those dealing with wages, discrimination, unions, child labor, and workplace conditions. In short, the Commissioner makes sure Oregonians are safe from discrimination and workers’ rights are protected.

2. Why should I vote for Val Hoyle?

Val has experience as a low-wage worker, union member, mom, and legislator. As Labor Commissioner, Val will focus on protecting workers, supporting local businesses, and building out the education and technical training programs that will develop the workforce of the future.

3. Wow! I'm inspired! What do I do next?
