Celebrating America's Seniors

May is Older Americans Month, but in my book, every month should be spent advocating for America's seniors.

Protecting seniors has been one of my priorities since the 1970's, when I founded the Portland chapter of the Gray Panthers, a seniors' advocacy group.

That said, I'm sickened by congressional Republicans who want to put Medicare and Social Security on the chopping block to pay for Trump's tax cut for the wealthy.

In the months and years to come, I'm going to keep fighting for our seniors — including protecting Social Security and Medicare, strengthening the Older Americans Act, and standing up for programs like vote-by-mail.

Older Americans have worked too hard for this country to be short-changed later in life, and it won't happen on my watch.
