Add your name: end the failed federal prohibition of marijuana

The War on Drugs has been a multi-billion dollar assault on people of color, the working poor, and those suffering from addiction or mental illness.

And nowhere does the failed War on Drugs fall as short as the criminalization of marijuana.

Oregonians and the American people understand this, which is why voters in my home state and in states across the country have gone to the ballot box to demand reform. Despite the fact that a majority of Americans live in a state where some form of marijuana is legal, it remains illegal at the federal level.

The result: a patchwork of confusing laws that leave people and businesses caught in the middle.

Sign the petition to tell Congress: It's time to end the senseless federal prohibition of marijuana.

Ending federal prohibition is about putting an end to a policy that's disproportionately hurt people of color. It's about making sure people have equal access to public housing and federal student aid, and that our veterans don't face unfair hurdles to treatment. It's about lifting barriers to science and critical medical marijuana research. It's also a matter of public safety and making sure state-legal marijuana businesses are no longer forced to operate as cash-only with limited access to banking services.

Nearly two-thirds of Americans support ending the prohibition of marijuana. It's time for the federal government to catch up.

Add your name to demand Congress legalize marijuana at the federal level.
