We've shown the world the danger of Donald Trump
Yesterday, Senate Republicans let Donald Trump off the hook for his attack on our government and our democracy. With their acquittal, 43 Republican Senators chose to once again put their loyalty to Donald Trump over the well-being of our country.
These votes aren't surprising in the least; many Republicans announced their intention to side with Trump before the trial even began. During the hearings, they proudly flouted their disinterest in the truth. A handful even secretly strategized with Trump's defense team.
Nevertheless, the House Impeachment Managers exposed – powerfully, explicitly, and beyond any doubt – the threat that Donald Trump and his enablers pose to America and the world.
Let me be clear: Donald Trump is responsible for inciting the attack on our democracy on January 6th.
Senate Republicans have shown there's no limit to how low they will stoop to protect Donald Trump. Their acquittal gives him the green light to continue peddling lies about the 2020 election, and even leaves the door open for him to retake power in the future.
We've seen the havoc Trump and his Republican enablers can wreak on our nation, and now it's up to our movement to stop Trumpism in its tracks.
