Our democracy is very much under attack

I don't consider it hyperbole to say the future of our democracy is absolutely on the ballot this November.

Take a look at Georgia. There, in a state where the Republican legislature is actively trying to keep people from voting, and where thousands of people – disproportionately people of color – were purged from voter rolls, the current Republican U.S. Senate primary is coming down to a debate over whether the 2020 election was stolen.

If Republicans win in November, you can bet that we'll absolutely see an escalation of those sorts of attacks on our country's basic democratic foundations.

I am asking for you to chip in $3 right now before our end-of-April deadline, to help grow a movement to defend our democratic institutions.

It's not just policy disagreements. These efforts are the latest in a longstanding Republican campaign to turn our democracy into a Donald Trump-driven autocracy. That's why they've stripped away voting rights wherever they can and continue to undermine access to the ballot box everywhere else. It's why they still support the seditious riot on January 6, and describe domestic terrorists as "patriots."

I won't stand for it.

I was elected to serve the people of Oregon. And as I travel across the state, I hear very real concerns from people who fear that their rights are going to be stripped away.

The right to affordable health care. The right for women to make their own medical decisions. The right for LGBTQIA+ Americans to simply exist. The right to clean air and clean water.

... all while being force-fed lie after lie from an increasingly-extreme right-wing Republican Party, that insists beyond all reason that Donald Trump didn't actually lose in 2020, or that the January 6 insurrection wasn't an attempted coup.

Early polling isn't promising. Pundits say Democrats could very much lose control of the Senate in November. We can't let that happen.

Please chip in $3 before midnight tomorrow. We must stand tall together, not just for our movement, but for our democracy.
