Building on progress

As we reflect on the state of our union, we must remember to celebrate our victories and recognize the important work that remains.

Democrats promised big, bold action on the challenges facing American families. I'm proud that we've made great progress on clean energy, prescription drug costs, infrastructure, and much more.

Democrats have lowered prescription drug costs for seniors, provided badly-needed funding to the IRS, and passed historic investments in clean energy – providing new jobs and securing a clean energy future.

We protected the right to marriage equality for all, defending our LGTBQ+ community members, no matter what the Supreme Court does.

I'm grateful for our grassroots movement, which made all of this possible, but our work isn't done yet. There is more to be done to build on our progress in 2023 and beyond.

That includes the fight to guarantee every American paid leave so that families and workers are no longer forced to make impossible choices.

We need to close tax loopholes and finally ensure that billionaires pay their fair share in taxes. For too long, hard-working Americans have dutifully paid taxes out of each paycheck, while billionaires don't pay a dime.

We must strengthen data privacy. Protecting Americans' personal data – especially in the wake of the overturning of Roe v. Wade – must remain a top priority, so we can safeguard data from being misused and abused.

We must tackle the mental health crisis head-on by providing additional support and enhancing mental health care coverage. Our nation's young people and veterans are particularly vulnerable, and as a nation, we must do better when it comes to mental health.

I know that Republican obstructionism will make it difficult to achieve these goals – but not impossible. These are priorities worth fighting for, and I'm all in to get it done. Know that I will continue to stand tall for Oregonians in the Senate and fight for what really matters.

Will you join me in the fight?

Ron
