You won’t believe what Trump’s judge in Texas just did

Over the last few weeks, you've heard me talk a lot about the abortion medication called mifepristone. That's because any day now, a right-wing, Trump-appointed judge in Texas is expected to overturn a decades-long FDA approval of the medicine, effectively banning access to it nationwide.

This case is a big deal and has the potential to be even more dangerous and consequential than the repeal of Roe v. Wade itself — because of the potential for a nationwide ban on the medication.

But it gets worse: late last night, news broke that the judge in this case is doing everything in his power to conceal hearings on the lawsuit from the public. This is outrageous and nothing short of cowardly.

Washington Post: In an unusual move, judge delays public notice of abortion-pill hearing

For years, conservatives have stacked our nation's courts with judges and justices willing to do their dirty work for them in a scheme of court-washing. Hiding any hearing – let alone one this consequential – is not the norm and only further proof that right-wing extremists are willing to go to any extreme to rip away women's reproductive freedom.

A few weeks ago, I took to the Senate floor to call on the Biden administration to guarantee access to mifepristone by ignoring this illegitimate ruling and keeping mifepristone on the market regardless of any ruling.

It has never been more critical that we do everything in our power to protect access to reproductive care for every American.

No matter how hard they work to keep their plans in the dark, I'll keep fighting like hell to shed light on their efforts to put women's lives in danger.

More soon,

Ron
