Will the Senate rubber-stamp the House? Not if I have anything to say…
May 2025 will go down as the month in which Republicans got their anti-health care, anti-family, anti-climate tax scam one big step closer to becoming reality.
The days and weeks ahead will determine whether Senate Republicans rubber-stamp the House. It'll take an aggressive push on all fronts to put them on defense over the budget bill's details, and keep the public informed about the high stakes.
It's going to take work to be heard over the right-wing noise machine. It's going to take perseverance to make our message resonate across media.
But I'm going to give it all I've got. I represent 730,000 Oregonians who rely on food assistance to afford groceries, 1.4 million who are on Medicaid, and millions more who all are counting on their air and water to be clean. Americans deserve nothing less than their lawmakers standing strong to stop the GOP budget monstrosity – and I'm working to make sure as many elected officials as possible understand their duty at this moment.
Our values remain worth fighting for. They remain powerful enough to move opinion and move votes. So let us not retreat one bit from this fight.
