Even deeper Medicaid cuts are coming if the Senate GOP gets its way

This past weekend, I was holding town halls in Eastern Oregon. In Malheur County – which has the highest percentage of Medicaid recipients of any Oregon county, and one of the highest in the country – I held a roundtable to listen to and to uplift the stories of Oregonians that are terrified of the Republicans' looming Medicaid cuts.

I even invited the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Administrator, Dr. Mehmet Oz, to join me. During his confirmation hearing, he promised to join me in Malheur County to answer directly to Oregonians about why the Trump administration is pursuing such dangerous and deadly cuts to health care.

He was a no-show.

The Trump administration is hiding from the American people because they know there is no real excuse for kicking 16 million people off their health care.

The stakes got even higher recently when Senate Republicans made changes to the bill to make even deeper cuts to Medicaid, which will result in millions more being kicked off their health care, and would force hospitals and nursing homes to shutter.

On behalf of Oregonians – and all Americans – who depend on Medicaid to make visits to the doctor's office and get life-saving care, I'm going to do all I can to fight these cuts.

I'm going to amplify the voices of those who have everything on the line. I'm going to take our message to all corners of media, and ramp up pressure on waffling Republicans in both the House and Senate who fear the political fallout if they cut their constituents' care.

To help do this critical work, I need your continued support. Can I count on you to pitch today?

More soon,

Ron
