Republicans are so eager to cut Social Security they’ve given the game away
I’ve sounded the alarm for months about how giddy Republicans are to cut Social Security. It turns out Trump’s Treasury Secretary was so excited that last week, he publicly bragged that the newly-passed GOP budget bill contained – his words, not mine – “a backdoor for privatizing Social Security.”

We need to send a message to Trump, his cronies, and the GOP: if you come for Social Security, you’re going to have to get through us.
Let’s show them that any effort to cut or privatize Social Security – especially something snuck into a budget bill under the guise of “investment accounts” – is going to be met with powerful opposition.
Will you sign my petition to denounce the GOP’s schemes targeting Social Security?
The last time Republicans made a real push to privatize Social Security was in 2005.
Democrats found our voice and regained our political footing by standing up for the right of Americans to retire with dignity.
It was the start of a comeback that led to us retaking Congress and the White House. We need to adopt the same approach in 2025, and amplifying our voices is the first step.
More soon,
Ron
