No Kings

For the past few weeks, the Trump Administration has employed every possible trick in the propaganda playbook to justify invading Portland and other American cities. They want the American people to think that armed troops regularly patrolling our streets is something to accept as "normal" in our country.

He has redirected taxpayer dollars away from lifelines that millions of Americans rely on.

He has bullied the press into bribing him and favorable news coverage.

It's clear that Trump thinks of himself as an all-powerful king who can do what he wants with our federal government and our tax dollars, consequences be damned.

On Saturday, the American people turned out to deliver a clear message: we don't roll over when a lawless President tries to trample on our democracy.

Trump and his sycophants like Kristi Noem, Mike Johnson, and others have had plenty to say about the people of Portland – and anyone else concerned about our country's course. They've said we hate America, that we're the "terrorist wing," and that we're being paid to protest.

As is often the case, it's clear that Trump couldn't be more detached from reality.

Here are just a few of the incredible images out of the No Kings Day rallies across Oregon.

From Brookings to Baker City – and all across the country – we saw a love of American ideals. And because those ideals are under attack, people are passionately and steadfastly making their voices heard.

Yes, there's fear. There is anger. But there is also hope – an unflinching belief that we the people have the power to reject autocracy, turn back the tide of policies that make the rich richer while everyone else gets left behind, and build a better future for all of us.

I am more determined than ever to fight for that future. And no would-be king will stop me.
