A runaway train is barreling toward our country.

Earlier this year, Republicans voted to raise monthly health insurance premiums for tens of millions of families across the country.

For years, Republicans have been targeting the Affordable Care Act, with seemingly no plan to replace the coverage that millions of families would lose. Donald Trump and Congressional Republicans repeatedly claim that they have "a plan," but all they have to offer is concepts of a plan.

Earlier this year, I spoke with a couple in Eugene, Oregon, who will see their monthly premiums go from around $400 a month to over $2200 a month. That's a price increase so staggering it leaves you speechless. No one in the United States of America should be expected to pay what amounts to a second mortgage for their health insurance.

Millions of families just like this one will be forced to make tough choices between keeping their health care and covering their rent and groceries.

There's a simple solution to stop this runaway train barreling toward our country: Republicans need to join Democrats and vote for our legislation that will stop this price increase from going into effect on January 1st.

By refusing to vote for our bill to keep costs down, Republicans are pushing millions of families to the edge of an economic cliff.

From their trillion-dollar blow to Medicaid to voting to raise premiums, 2025 has been the year Republicans took a sledgehammer to health care in America.

I'm under no illusions that our system is perfect. I think we can all agree that health care costs and insurance companies are spinning out of control, and more needs to be done to rein them in. But the solution is not kicking millions of people off their health care.

That's why I'm working around the clock to keep costs down for families now. But then it's time to drastically overhaul the for-profit system that puts profits over patients.
