A glorified coupon book

Americans are facing a cost of living crisis. Everything from rent to groceries to car payments and everything in between continues to climb in cost, while families make tough choices to get by. That's on full display at the pharmacy counter, where millions of Americans are forced to pay skyrocketing costs while Big Pharma rakes in the profits.

Donald Trump has proudly touted his new "TrumpRx" as the solution. The silver bullet that will give patients a more affordable alternative.

But here's the truth: TrumpRx is nothing but a glorified coupon book that will leave drugs more expensive for families with health insurance. And on top of that, we know that Trump rarely does anything if there isn't something in it for him to gain. Donald Trump Jr. is on the board of a company that has refused to say whether it was involved with TrumpRx. There's no question in my mind that this is a shady scheme from top to bottom, and another way to enrich the Trump family.

Donald Trump was president for four years and never once lifted a finger to lower drug costs. When Democrats took power, we took bold action to lower costs and hold Big Pharma accountable for ripping people off at the pharmacy counter.

Now that he's back in the White House, Trump is desperate for a win. So he's defaulted to big announcements and flashy branding that amount to nothing more than a glorified coupon book.

There is no greater fraud than Donald J. Trump when it comes to lower drug prices. My doors are wide open to anybody who wants to take the bold next step forward on lowering drug costs for Americans.

That is why I am leading an effort to actually rein in Big Pharma's outrageous price increases, lower costs for patients, and reduce wasteful government spending that pads the profits of big corporations.

Americans are sick of Donald Trump's broken promises. We need leaders who are ready to take bold steps forward and fight for affordable healthcare.
