Open-to-all town meetings in every county
At the end of last year, I wrapped up my 1138th town hall. Every year I serve in the Senate, I pledge to hold open-to-all town meetings in each of Oregon's 36 counties. So far in 2026, I've hosted 11 town meetings.
These town halls are for you: listening to the concerns of Oregonians and answering your questions.
In 2025, I heard many shared concerns from Oregonians throughout the year:
- People worry about soaring health care costs. Too many Oregon families are being forced to make tough choices between covering the cost of prescriptions or paying for rent and groceries.
- People want the truth about the Epstein files. Why did the Trump administration withhold the files for so long, and why do they continue to hide the full story?
- Communities are fearful of masked and unidentified ICE agents snatching people off the streets with no due process.
- Oregonians want accountability for Trump and his cronies trampling over the Constitution.
Donald Trump has been dangerously emboldened by a Republican majority in Congress that is running scared from its own constituency. Republicans have pretty much stopped hosting any public town halls for fear of facing tough questions from their districts about enabling Trump's lawlessness. But I believe that if you aren't hearing directly from the people you represent, you can't do your job.
Town halls are the most important part of my career in public service. As long as I have the honor to represent Oregon in the Senate, I will always give Oregonians a platform to hold their elected officials accountable.
The will of the people is our best weapon right now, and we must harness it at every level in every fight ahead.
Onward,
Ron
