Trump’s anti-choice propaganda website
The latest Trump administration scheme has a really Orwellian name: Moms.gov.
Sounds innocent and helpful, right? But this website – made using your taxpayer money – is a front to inundate women with anti-choice rhetoric, spread misinformation with no basis in science, and harvest sensitive personal data.
It's dangerous and is just another tool for the Trump administration to advance its extreme authoritarian agenda.
Let me highlight some of the most alarming features of the website:
- The website directs pregnant women to "pregnancy centers." These facilities aren't considered medical providers, so they are not governed by medical privacy laws. These pregnancy centers have a long history of deception and medical misinformation.
- The website directs women to "pregnancy center" webpages where they collect personal and sensitive information that is not protected.
- Since these pregnancy centers are not subject to medical privacy laws, this sensitive information could end up shared with anti-abortion activists or others with sinister intentions.
- This website directs visitors to resources with a documented history of discrimination.
This website is propaganda. It provides one-sided resources and information that could encourage women to reject evidence-based medical care and advice.
I am incredibly alarmed by this administration's continued efforts to wage a war on reproductive health care. It's an egregious abuse of power.
Instead of working to actually keep our kids, families, and women safe, the Trump administration is targeting reproductive freedom and funneling taxpayer money into a propaganda website.
This administration won't stop its attacks on reproductive health care. We must remain vigilant and put a stop to their misinformation campaigns immediately.
Onward,
Ron
