The Constitution is not a ‘choose your own adventure’
Today is Constitution Day — the 239th anniversary of the signing of our nation's guiding text.
Our Constitution is built on one core idea: that no one person holds unchecked power.
Since he took office, Donald Trump has run roughshod over the bedrock values our country was built upon. So far, he has:
- Launched an illegal war without Congressional approval
- Redirected your tax dollars away from federal programs to his own priorities, like funding ICE and vanity projects
- Attacked freedom of speech by censoring anyone he disagrees with or who tries to shed light on fraud or abuse in his administration
That's just to name a few. The Constitution is not 'choose your own adventure'; it's the law of the land. No one is above the law, not even the President.
We are just 7 weeks out from the midterm elections. Now more than ever, we need to keep up the momentum of our grassroots movement to send Congressional Republicans packing, and elect progressive leaders who will stand up to Trump's lawlessness instead of enabling him.
Onward,
Ron
