Let’s talk about Flock
Early last year, I sounded the alarm on the proliferation of Flock cameras and the threat they pose to our constitutional right to privacy.
Since then, there's been an explosion of new Flock cameras across the country and reports of law enforcement abusing its access to this data.
Here are some of the reported abuses: law enforcement officers using the technology to stalk ex-girlfriends, trace women going out of state for reproductive care if they live in a state with an abortion ban, and ICE officers using the data to track immigrants.
Every single American has a constitutional right to privacy. The right to live your life without fear of the government tracking where you go, who you talk to, and what you do.
The proliferation of Flock cameras poses one of the single biggest threats to Americans' privacy today.
All of us deserve to live in a country to not be surveilled by the state, have their data sold to the highest bidder, be tracked illegally by their government across state lines, or have their information used by law enforcement for reasons outside of enforcing the law.
All of which are things that have been documented to happen under the "watchful eye" of Flock.
These are weapons of mass inspection, plain and simple.
As the Senate's resident "privacy hawk," I've made it my mission to sound the alarm and tackle Flock's privacy abuses head on.
But our movement can't stay silent. I need your help in sending the powerful message to Republican lawmakers and Flock that we won't stand for a mass surveillance state.
