Roe v. Wade, Citizens United, and the Supreme Court
The Supreme Court wields incredible power.
Yesterday, we looked back with outrage on the sixth anniversary of the disastrous Citizens United decision – one of the worst in recent history.
Today, we celebrate the forty-third anniversary of a very different kind of decision: Roe v. Wade.
Roe made it clear that, under the Constitution, a woman’s reproductive health decisions are hers to make and hers alone. Nobody else has a right to interfere in these very personal medical and family planning decisions.
Sadly, extremists have stepped up their attacks on reproductive rights. They’re going after Planned Parenthood and working overtime to elect allies to Congress and the White House. Some states are even openly challenging Roe in hopes of overturning it.
You see, the next President may have the opportunity to reshape the Supreme Court for decades to come – but it all depends on who controls the U.S. Senate. That’s why our fight to hold this seat and retake the Senate is so critical. Women’s reproductive rights hang in the balance.
