Why Mitch McConnell is working to defeat Patty Murray

Let's cut to the chase: Patty Murray, my friend, and colleague who represents Washington State, is one of the Senate's most powerful advocates for reproductive rights and women's health care.

It should come as no surprise that Mitch McConnell and his wealthy GOP donors have made Patty a top target in this fall's election.

We need to stand with Patty if we're going to hold our pro-choice leadership in the U.S. Senate. Please chip in $3 now to make sure we can stop McConnell's attacks on her.

Like you, I was devastated to read the leaked Supreme Court opinion that would overturn Roe v. Wade this year.

And I was livid when I heard Mitch McConnell casually talking about how, if Republicans take over Congress, Republicans plan on doing everything in their power to implement a nationwide abortion ban.

This isn't a drill. Congressional Republicans have announced, in no uncertain terms, that the heartless draft decision doesn't go far enough, and promised to take it further. We should believe them.

Patty understands what is at stake. She is a staunch defender of women's health care and reproductive rights and fights tirelessly each day to level the playing field for working families in Washington and nationwide. I've seen her commitment and passion for public service firsthand while serving alongside her in the Senate.

We can't afford to lose her in this fight. Will you chip in $3 to support Murray and me this year?

With the Court decision due any day, we have only one option this year: do everything we can to elect a pro-choice majority in November, so we can finally pass a definitive law protecting the right to an abortion. That majority must include Patty Murray.

In unity,

Ron
