A laser-guided weapon aimed at any useful public service
It's Tax Day. Like hundreds of millions of other Americans, you've already filed or are preparing to file your returns for the year.
You've likely spent several hours combing through your documents for the last year and painstakingly inputting your information into your filing service. Just to be met at the end of the slog with having to fork out 150 bucks to your tax filing service, like TurboTax.
You're 150 dollars poorer this tax season because Donald Trump personally ended the free direct filing service that Democrats created through the IRS. It was a wildly popular program that allowed taxpayers to file their tax returns for free.
So of course, one of Donald Trump's first orders of business after starting his second presidency was to end that service as a favor to the wealthy tax prep companies and their lobbyists, so they could rake in bigger profits at the expense of taxpayers. Last year, Direct File helped save Americans nearly $6 million in tax preparation fees.
That's the Trump agenda in a nutshell: destroy anything good that serves hard-working people to benefit those at the very top.
Our country's tax code is already rigged in favor of the ultra-wealthy. Each month, firefighters, teachers, and nurses pay taxes out of each paycheck. But there's a separate tax code for the wealthy and well-connected. One that allows them to get away without paying their fair share, and doesn't require them to pay monthly taxes like the rest of us.
And Donald Trump is working overtime to keep it that way.
With the help of his Republican underlings in Congress, he gave yet another round of tax breaks to corporations and the ultra-wealthy, while the rest of us pay for it.
Trump's entire agenda begins and ends with helping make his rich friends richer at the expense of everyone else.
When we send Trump packing in 2028, there's going to be one hell of a mess to clean up. Restoring the critical lifelines that Americans rely on, but also laying the groundwork for a bold new vision that puts the American people first, not corporate special interests, and not the Epstein class.
When we send Trump and Republicans packing, my agenda will be this: affordability for us, accountability for them.
The past year has shown that Americans need a bold new vision for the future. One that not only holds Trump and his underlings accountable for their corruption, but one that delivers for the people and helps everyone get ahead.
That's the future I'm fighting for. And I hope to have your support as we fight for a better future for all.
More soon,
Ron
