Clobbered by Trump’s manufactured energy crisis
Families everywhere are getting clobbered by the energy crisis caused by Trump's war with Iran. Meanwhile, Republicans in Congress have been doing favors for their Big Oil buddies at the consumers' expense — via tax breaks and cuts to clean energy projects.
The result? Gas at the pump, utility costs, and electricity bills are going through the roof. A significant portion of the energy grid is practically from the dark ages. It is a trifecta of punishment for rural communities, and we're seeing it here in Oregon.
The combination of wildfires, drought, and escalating energy prices comes together, and we need action now.
In 2022, I authored the law under the Inflation Reduction Act to boost new energy projects. In the wake of the passage of the Inflation Reduction Act into law, the United States saw an unprecedented clean energy and manufacturing boom.
Last year, at the first opportunity, Republicans gutted those tax credits under their budget bill. In the months since, the energy grid has been unable to meet skyrocketing demand — plunging the country into a manufactured energy crisis and raising utility costs for families nationwide.
This is a crisis we did not have to have. I will continue to fight for lower energy costs for families and create good-paying clean energy jobs on American soil.
More soon,
Ron
