Trump is waging a shadow war on reproductive rights

Last month, Trump's Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) released an updated list of water contaminants recommended for testing to ensure the safety of drinking water. Sounds harmless enough, but if you look closer, this is much more sinister.

The list includes abortion medications like misoprostol and methotrexate, as well as oral contraceptives.

Translation: the Trump administration wants cities and states to start testing its drinking water for traces of these medications.

While the EPA claims these benchmarks are merely to "empower local decision makers," the EPA Administrator himself acknowledged that this move is laying the groundwork for sweeping state and federal restrictions on reproductive health care.

This administration's attempt to co-opt environmental policy to wage a shadow war on reproductive rights is an egregious abuse of power. I'm calling on the EPA to immediately abandon this medically and scientifically bankrupt campaign, withdraw any guidance that targets essential reproductive health care, and return to its actual mission of protecting human health and the environment.

Instead of working to actually keep our kids and families safe, the Trump administration is targeting reproductive freedom and unraveling key protections against forever chemicals and other deadly substances.

We must listen to science. We can't let these fraudulent campaigns run rampant. We must put a stop to this now.

Onward,

Ron
