Data centers on public lands? Hell no

Just a few weeks ago, the movement to save our public lands received a crushing blow: it was revealed that the Trump administration is quietly working to hijack over 17,000 acres of public lands across the West, including Oregon, to build data centers.

By now, the impact of data centers on the communities in which they're built is well documented. These centers put unprecedented strain on limited water and energy resources, driving up costs for the rest of us.

Last week, in an effort to block Trump's latest scheme to defile our public lands, I tried to fast-track passage of my bill that would ban the development of data centers on public lands.

Senate Republicans blocked it.

Republicans would rather let Trump do what he wants than lift a finger to protect our beloved public lands.

Let me be clear: our public lands belong to you – the taxpayer. Not corporations, and especially not Donald Trump. But Republicans just proved they are all in on Trump's plan to build data centers on our public lands, and maybe even our national parks.

This is just one more reason we need to elect a strong Democratic majority in the Senate this November that can fight back against the Republican agenda to sell off our public lands.

Onward,

Ron
