Trump wants a special set of rules for himself and his family

Recently, Trump's own DOJ settled his lawsuit against the IRS. You've probably heard about the slush fund (of nearly $2 billion) he wanted to create from the settlement: taxpayer-funded handouts to allies he claimed were "victims" of political persecution (which, under Trump's warped definition, almost certainly includes the January 6 insurrectionists).

Trump appears to back off the demand for this fund after getting fierce political blowback from his own party – for now.

But one thing in the settlement that Trump hasn't publicly backed away from? The immunity he and his family would be granted from any IRS audit.

This is why so many Americans have lost faith in our politics. Elites like Trump — who already benefit from a rigged system — want to codify a special protected category for themselves. No working American is immune from being audited; why should the Trump family be?

So when Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent appeared before the Senate Finance Committee recently, I asked him directly whether Trump's immunity arrangement will move forward. What a surprise it was when he refused to give a direct answer.

The American people deserve to know if a whole new set of rules is being made for those at the top. They deserve to know the full extent of the corruption and financial grift coming out of this administration.

No matter what smokescreens that Trump administration lackeys put up in the face of these questions, I'm determined to expose the truth. Transparency is the backbone of our democracy, and I'll always fight for it.

More soon,

Ron
